Florida industry export
The export covers IT and software companies registered in Florida, defined by NAICS 2022 (5132, 5415, 518). For scale: 49,005 businesses in Florida per the U.S. Census Bureau, County Business Patterns 2023 + Nonemployer Statistics 2024: 12,569 with employees in 2023 and 36,436 without employees in 2024; that is official statistics. Our Florida database is active, but per-industry record counts are still being compiled. Tell us whether you mean software publishers, development shops, managed service providers or hosting companies, and which metro areas.

Data as of October 15, 2026. Industry size: U.S. Census Bureau, County Business Patterns 2023 + Nonemployer Statistics 2024: businesses with paid employees (CBP 2023, establishments, NAICS 2017 codes 5112, 5415, 518) plus businesses without paid employees (NES 2024, NAICS 2022 codes 5415, 518); not our dataset. Statewide figure for all industries: Florida Department of State, Division of Corporations, Yearly Statistics, as of July 8, 2026; not our dataset. NAICS titles: 5112 Software Publishers (NAICS 2017 code; 5132 in NAICS 2022); 5415 Computer Systems Design and Related Services; 518 Data Processing, Hosting, and Related Services (NAICS 2017 title; NAICS 2022 renamed 518 Computing Infrastructure Providers, Data Processing, Web Hosting, and Related Services) (U.S. Census Bureau).
The industry is defined by three NAICS 2022 groups: 5132, Software Publishers; 5415, Computer Systems Design and Related Services (custom programming, systems design, facilities management and other computer services); and 518, Computing Infrastructure Providers, Data Processing, Web Hosting, and Related Services.
These codes changed with the 2022 revision of NAICS. Software publishers, for example, were coded 5112 in NAICS 2017 and are 5132 now; lists and CRM systems built on older codes will not match the 2022 codes without conversion. We work with the 2022 edition.
The corporate registry carries no industry code, which makes classification the main difficulty: a business called “Solutions LLC” can be a software company, a staffing firm or a consulting firm. The company website is often the only public source that settles the question.
A technology company that operates in Florida may be organized in Delaware or another state and registered in Florida as a foreign entity. It appears in the state registry with its Florida registration, and its principal address may be outside the state.
Our expectation, which is an assumption and not a finding from data: We expect the website to be the most common contact field in this industry. A firm may publish a contact form or a general email address rather than a phone number, so a selection “with phone number” is likely to be smaller than a selection “with website.” Per-industry contact counts are still being compiled; once measured, they will replace this note.
We are looking for custom software development and IT consulting companies in Hillsborough, Pinellas and Orange counties with a website and a general email address, to offer them a partner program. Staffing-only firms should not be included. Please state what you can deliver, the price and the as-of date of the data.
This is an example only, not a promise of a record count.
Official statistics
The Census statistics for 2023 still use the 2017 edition of NAICS (CBP methodology), so software publishers appear under their old code. Nonemployer Statistics for 2024, which adds the businesses without employees, uses NAICS 2022 and publishes no separate row for software publishers (5132) in Florida, so its part of the figure covers 5415 and 518 only (NES methodology). Computer systems design is the largest group in the figures below.
Miami-Dade (9,391), Broward (6,253), Palm Beach (3,970), Orange (3,641), Hillsborough (3,501). Figures for all 67 counties are in the table Florida businesses by county.
Sources: U.S. Census Bureau, County Business Patterns 2023; U.S. Census Bureau, Nonemployer Statistics 2024 (methodology). Each row adds establishments with paid employees (County Business Patterns 2023, NAICS 2017) and businesses without paid employees (Nonemployer Statistics 2024, NAICS 2022, which leaves out businesses with less than $1,000 in receipts except in construction). These are Census Bureau statistics, not counts from our dataset.
We know of no Florida professional license for IT services or software development as such, so there is no license record to match against.
The record at the Division of Corporations is therefore the only state source we plan to use: name, entity type, document number, status, filing date, addresses, registered agent and officers. It says nothing about what the company builds or sells.
Service descriptions, technology focus and contact details come from what a company publishes about itself. That is a planned source, subject to the limits described in our methodology: a website can be outdated, and a parked domain is not an operating business.
A Delaware corporation with a Florida office registers in Florida as a foreign entity. Whether such companies count as “Florida companies” for your purposes is a question to settle in your request.

Because it was built on NAICS 2017 or earlier. The 2022 revision moved software publishers to 513210. Both codes describe the same activity; when you merge lists, convert one edition to the other first.

The size of the industry in Florida is 49,005 businesses in Florida per the U.S. Census Bureau, County Business Patterns 2023 + Nonemployer Statistics 2024: 12,569 with employees in 2023 and 36,436 without employees in 2024 (source); that is the official market scale, not a count of our delivered records. Our per-industry record count is still being compiled; contact us for the current count for IT and Software. For orientation: Active business entities registered with the Florida Division of Corporations (corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships and trusts) – 4,129,182 as of July 8, 2026 (Florida Department of State, Division of Corporations, Yearly Statistics). That figure covers all industries and counts registered entities whether or not they operate. The Census figures on this page give a sense of scale for IT and Software.
Federal law does not require prior consent for commercial email to businesses, but every message must comply with the CAN-SPAM Act (FTC compliance guide); sales calls and texts are restricted more tightly by federal rules and by Fla. Stat. § 501.059. An export contains no consent. Our data is not screened against any do-not-call list, including the National Do Not Call Registry and the Florida Do Not Call list. How Fla. Stat. § 501.059(4) applies to business records that include phone numbers is a question for an attorney, and no Florida dataset with phone numbers will be released until that question is resolved. The compliance of a campaign is your responsibility. The rules are explained in Cold outreach rules in Florida; this is not legal advice.
From public sources: corporate filings of the Florida Division of Corporations (Sunbiz), the license and registration records named on this page and the companies' own websites (sources and methodology).
